The Glenolden Business Association Scholarship - (download application)

The Glenolden Business Association (GBA) will award scholarships to four graduating seniors from the Borough of Glenolden. The purpose of the GBA Scholarship Program is to support and strengthen Glenolden’s community by offering financial aid to residents for educational purposes. Our goal is to contribute to the education of a student. We are looking for the students who are helping the community to grow through volunteer programs, sports, community activities and employment in the community from their freshman through their senior years.

Eligibility Requirements:
Scholarships are available to Glenolden residents preparing to further their education at a two or four year college, university, or vocational / technical institution. Students must be from the Glenolden community and attend a local high school.

Awards: Four Scholarships @ $500.00 each:
Award decisions will be based on community involvement, academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, and special circumstances, from freshmen year through senior year. The GBA will reserve the right to determine how best to balance this criteria when evaluating applications. The award money may be used for tuition, room and board, book, lab fees and equipment; however, award money used for expenses other than this must be reported as taxable income. It will be the responsibility of the recipient to report and pay any tax liability.

Administration:
A small evaluation committee will make scholarship award decisions based on information received on the completed applications. Students are eligible for the scholarship for their first year of college or vocational / technical education. All applications must be post marked no later than April 21, 2007. Incomplete applications or those postmarked after this date will not be processed. All information received from these applications will be treated as confidential. Award winners will be notified by mail in May.
